Sweet Potato Digging

On Wednesday, October 17th KB class had a field trip to Heguri-cho to dig for sweet potatoes. The children had a wonderful time digging up their sweet potatoes and talking to the local farmer. The children were so surprised by the enormous potatoes they dug up and were proud that they were able to do it by themselves. Later, they ate lunch and played in a nearby park. As well as being able to take some home for parents to cook, the children made sweet potato cakes at school on Thursday morning. They were their afternoon snack that day and the children announced them the “best snack they have ever had.”
