Welcome to the OYIS Community

At OYIS, we provide a high-quality, international education to students from around the world.

Our school is built around the concept of community. We are committed to empowering students so they can make a meaningful difference in society.

We achieve this by following the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) programmes, using real-life global issues to equip students with essential skills and knowledge.

Through our teaching and learning, we help students discover who they are and connect them to an inquiry-based learning environment. By encouraging student curiosity about the real world, we are then able to make connections with our community through service learning.

OYIS is proud to be the only IB continuum school in Osaka City, teaching more than 300 students comprising 34 nationalities. We offer the IB’s Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). This means we can provide students with the perfect pathway from preschool through to Grade 12.

Although OYIS has grown rapidly in the past few years, we have retained our sense of community and remain a family-orientated school. We are an inclusive school that looks to support all the various needs of all students so they can reach their full potential.

Parents naturally seek a quality education for their children. Expatriate parents in particular face an unfamiliar environment which may offer few guidelines on how best to select the most appropriate school for their child’s needs.

Accreditation validates that a school meets high standards of institutional quality through an ongoing, independent, objective process of peer review. It recognizes the quality of the evaluated school, reassures parents, teachers, universities, and governments that the school provides a high-quality learning experience, and results in sustained school improvement and a road map for transformation.   

OYIS is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, WASC (Western Association for Schools and Colleges). ACS WASC accreditation is an ongoing cycle of quality whereby schools demonstrate the capacity, commitment, and competence to support high-quality student learning and ongoing school improvement. The ACS WASC Focus on Learning protocol guides schools into an ongoing improvement process that includes implementation, assessment, and refinement of the schoolwide action plan on an annual basis. Appropriate reports and reviews throughout the cycle of accreditation support this process. ACS WASC works closely with the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) in the East Asia region.
