G3&4 Kobe Disaster Center
Grade 3 went to the Life and Disaster Center in Kobe. We felt sad that so many people perished in the big earthquake. We thought about losing our families or homes like the people we met and it was scary. But we thought the Center had so much good information and we were able to learn a lot about how people keep safe or get prepared in different ways too. Now buildings are stronger, and there are people who are here to help in emergencies.
Grade 4 went to the Kobe Disaster Museum as a part of our unit about earth systems. There we focused on safety and what we can do in an emergency. There was a lot to see. We watched a movie and heard first-hand accounts from people who lived through the Hanshin Awaji Earthquake in 1995.
