Emily is the External Programs Director at Osaka YMCA International School. Originally a qualified teacher from Australia, she has lived in Japan for 15 years, working in education. She always wear black.

This year the focus of the Spring Intensives will be on two weeks of fun and enjoyable learning experiences for the students. Catering to the needs of differing student ability levels both within the classes and within the program, our immersive English environment supports the learning of new content, ideas, and language through ongoing practice and activities.

It’s that time again, school holidays means it’s time for the OYIS Spring Intensives. This year the focus of the Spring Intensives will be on two weeks of fun and enjoyable learning experiences for the students. With hands-on learning opportunities, linked literacy activities and increased opportunities to learn and use vocabulary related theme language, students will enjoy our engaging classes each week. Catering to the needs of differing student ability levels both within the classes and within the program, our immersive English environment supports the learning of new content, ideas and language through ongoing practice and activities.
今年もまた、OYISスプリングインテンシブの季節がやってきました。今年の2週間に渡るスプリングインテンシブは、生徒たちにとって楽しくワクワクするような学びの場になるよう力を入れております。実践的な学びの場になる様、読み書きを取り入れたアクティビティーはもちろん、テーマに合った語彙力を鍛えるための機会も増やし、毎週生徒たちが楽しみながら意欲的に取り組みたくなるレッスンを用意しております。 クラス内でもプログラム全体としても、生徒たちの異なる能力レベルのニーズに応えるため、英語漬けの環境で、継続的な練習やアクティビティーを通じて、新しいコンテンツ、アイデア、言語の学習をサポートします。
  • This intensive will run:
    Week 1 – March 21st to March 25th, 2022 [x 5 days]
    Topic: Ocean Life
  • Week 2 – March 28th to March 31st, 2022 [x 4 days]
    Topic: Animals and their habitats

Art and Craft will also be a focus throughout each of the two weeks as it provides significantly more opportunities for the students to use English in a risk free environment. Other parts of the day will include PE, Discussion Time and a range of Theme Activities. Our aim throughout all our intensives is for students to enjoy themselves and develop their English speaking and literacy skills at the same time.
生徒たちが、リスクのない環境で英語を使用する機会を大幅に増やすため、 毎週アートやクラフト作りにも力を入れています。その他の時間割には、体育、ディスカッションタイム、様々なテーマに沿ったアクティビティが含まれます。インテンシブプログラムを通しての私たちの目標は、子供たちが楽しみながら、同時に英語のスピーキングや読み書きの能力を向上させることです。
We completely understand parent and caregiver concerns regarding the current situation in Osaka with rising numbers, and take this very seriously. To alleviate concerns we wanted to share the following information relating to our policy. Strict COVID protocols will be maintained with all students and parents & caregivers having their temperature checked upon entry and all students having to wash their hands. No parents or caregivers will be allowed within the school building.

現在、大阪での新型コロナウイルス感染拡大の状況に関して、保護者の皆様が懸念されていることも私たちは深く理解し、真剣に受け止めております。皆様の不安や懸念点を暖和するために、私たちが実施している厳しい感染防止対策を共有させて頂きます。 まず、登校時にはすべての生徒と保護者の体温をチェックし、生徒全員に手を洗って頂きます。校舎内への保護者や関係者の立ち入りは禁止させて頂いております。
Plastic dividers will be used at both fruit time and at lunch time with students not being able to talk at lunch due to the increased risk of not wearing masks. Masks must be worn by all students and staff correctly (over the nose and covering the mouth) at all times (aside from lunch and fruit time for students). Whenever possible, students will sit socially distanced. Every effort will be made to repeatedly clean surfaces throughout the day and have the students wash their hands regularly.
フルーツタイムや昼食時には、マスクを外し感染のリスクが高まるので、アクリル板を用いて仕切りを作り、黙食を徹底しております。 またマスクは、すべての生徒とスタッフが正しく(鼻の上から口を覆っている)着用することを常に心がけており(昼食とフルーツタイムを除く)、可能な限り、生徒たちはソーシャルディスタンスを保っての活動に取り組んでおります。1日を通して、手が触れる箇所を定期的に除菌したり、手洗いを習慣づけるなど、感染対策の徹底に取り組んでおります。
