Sports bring people together. Our Athletics Program at OYIS provides a communal, friendly experience, as well as a chance for students to participate in regular physical activity, which in turn leads to healthier lives. Involvement in organized sports also provides a space for OYIS students to demonstrate confidence, leadership, and self-respect. Student-athletes manifest strong peer relationships, higher self-esteem, and a greater sense of well-being.
The aim of the elementary school athletics program is to provide all students with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and rules of a variety of sports provided throughout the school year. Each team has a weekly practice to prepare the students for a season-end tournament.

Middle School
Students participating in our middle school athletics program have the opportunity to build skills and learn strategies while participating in weekend friendly matches, and multi-day tournaments at the end of each sport season. Our coaches aim to strike a balance between encouraging competitive spirit while still maintaining our high standard of sportsmanship and inclusion.
High School
Our high school athletics program kicks off our inaugural year during the 2020-21 school year. Students will have the opportunity to participate on teams that compete in weekend friendly matches around the Kansai region as well as in overnight tournaments at international schools across Japan.
