On Friday, 28th of February OYIS will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day.
Pink Shirt Day originated in Canada and aims to raise self-esteem, reduce uncaring behaviors, and develop empathy. It is celebrated worldwide and, in fact, 180 countries contributed and participated in the event last year.
Since the start of February, students at OYIS have been focusing on being caring, kind and empathetic towards each other. This has been encouraged by daily morning announcements, circle times, art and club activities and much more. To show our solidarity and support for this internationally-recognized day, students and staff are encouraged to wear something pink to school on Pink Shirt Day (28th of February). This is our day to show that our community is about being caring and supportive.
There will be a whole-school, student-led assembly on Friday, 28th of February where students will be showcasing ideas, thoughts, and work influenced by Pink Shirt Day.
As always, families are welcome to join and be part of the celebration. We look forward to seeing you there and in pink!
