As we continuously strive to enhance the support and resources available to our students, we recognize the pivotal role that parental involvement plays in achieving academic success and development.
As many of you know, we are in the process of revising the way we support students. Many of you have reached out to ask for more information about what support looks like and why we do things the way we do.
One of the major steps we are taking is to become a member of SENIA International, as well as SENIA Japan. In addition, some of our inclusion team are taking courses through SENIA International. SENIA International is an international organization that “champions inclusion by empowering the global community to connect, learn and advocate for each other.” It is a wonderful group for us teachers to learn from and gain insights into different ways to solve problems. We are connected both internationally to SENIA and domestically to the SENIA Japanese network.
Another benefit is that SENIA Japan has a parent group.
This parent group isn’t just any ordinary group; it’s designed to foster collaboration, understanding, and mutual support between parents. Here’s why we believe joining this group could be immensely beneficial for you and your child:
Access to Support: We understand that navigating the educational journey can sometimes feel overwhelming. By joining the SENIA Parent Group, you’ll gain access to a supportive community where you can seek advice, share experiences, and find solace in knowing that you’re not alone in your journey.
Insight into Our Approach: Have you ever wondered why we implement certain teaching methods or educational strategies for support? The parent group could provide an opportunity for you to gain insight into our educational philosophy, curriculum decisions, and overall approach to student support. Understanding the “why” behind what we do can empower you to better support your child’s learning journey at home.
Networking: Connect with fellow parents who share similar concerns, aspirations, and experiences. Building a strong network of support can be invaluable in navigating the ups and downs of parenthood and education.
Advocacy and Engagement: Become an active participant in shaping the educational experience for all students. Your input, feedback, and advocacy can influence school policies, initiatives, and programs, ensuring that they reflect our parent community’s diverse needs and perspectives.
Celebrating Achievements: Join us in celebrating the achievements and milestones of our students, educators, and parents alike. Whether it’s academic accomplishments, artistic endeavors, or acts of kindness, our parent group is a space to recognize and applaud the collective efforts of our school community.
