OYIS students in Grade Five participate in an extended unit of inquiry known as the Exhibition.
The Exhibition is the culmination of the students’ experience with the PYP, and involves independent and small-group inquiries that synthesise all five elements of the PYP- knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action. The Exhibition is also an opportunity for students to demonstrate and reflect on the attributes of the Learner Profile that they have been developing during their time learning within the PYP.
The Exhibition allows students to inquire into issues they find relevant and interesting, with the support of their homeroom teacher, specialist teachers, and mentor teachers who help guide small groups of students through the Exhibition process.
The Exhibition takes the place of one the year’s unit of inquiries, and students work with teachers develop the central idea and lines of inquiry. Students explore both local and global issues and connect their individual inquiries to the broader central idea.
The Exhibition process includes a presentation which the OYIS community is invited to attend.
