It's that time of year again...time for the Literacy Olympics! This year's Literacy Olympics will be held from February 27-March 3, 2017. It is intended as a celebration of all forms of learning at OYIS. Students will explore many subjects through the lens of inquiry, such as: language arts, visual arts, science, music, PE, social studies, and Units of Inquiry. Our attitude of the week is "curiosity" and our Learner Profile attribute is "risk taker". Students can win raffle tickets and prizes for their participation during recess and classroom challenges and other Literacy Olympics events. You are invited to sign-up and observe classes throughout the week. Don't forget to bring a book for Stop, Drop, and Read!

Please see the link below for more information.

You are cordially invited to attend the OYIS Japanese New Year party on Wednesday, January 25th from 9:20AM to 12 Noon. The students will engage in playing traditional games and mochi pounding. Each child should bring a smock/apron, chopsticks and a plastic plate. We thank the PTA for volunteering to help with this event. We do not require any other volunteers from the parent/caregiver community at this time. We look forward to a fun-filled morning.
